Buyer-Paid Fees

On Curios, the buyer covers checkout fees so you keep 100% of your list price on every sale.

When you sell on Curios, the price you set is the amount you earn. Rather than deducting a cut from your revenue, Curios adds the necessary fees on top of your list price at checkout, so they’re paid by the buyer — not you. Here’s exactly what those fees are and what they cover.

Buyers pay the fees at checkout

Your list price is what lands in your account. When a customer checks out, Curios calculates the applicable fees and adds them to the order total, so the buyer pays them as part of their purchase. This is why your net earnings stay at 100% of your list price on every plan — the costs of running the transaction are carried by the buyer, not taken out of your sale.

What the fees cover

The checkout fee is made up of two parts:

  • Payment processing. This covers the cost charged by our payment providers to securely process the buyer’s credit card, debit card, and other supported payment methods. These are the fees the card networks and processors charge on every transaction.
  • Order processing & content delivery. This covers the cost of processing the order and delivering the content — and it’s what allows Curios to guarantee that a customer’s purchased content stays available to them, forever. We store, host, and serve the content so buyers can access what they bought for the long term.

Sales tax and shipping

In addition to the checkout fees above, the buyer is responsible for any sales tax that applies to their order, based on the product and where they’re located. For physical products, the buyer also covers any shipping costs. How shipping is calculated and charged depends on how each creator has configured shipping in their account, so the exact amount a buyer sees at checkout can vary from creator to creator.
