The deal brings Rocki's music streaming technology and its community of artists to Curios.
Curios has entered into an agreement to acquire Rocki, a spin-off of the music project Choon, built by Matt Hall and John Watkinson, the founders of CryptoPunks, alongside Gareth Emery and Bjorn Niclas.
The acquisition follows Curios' recent acquisition of E-NFT.com and further extends its presence in the independent music industry. Rocki was conceived by its founders as a disruptive music streaming service with plans to take on the likes of Spotify and Apple Music, a goal that aligns closely with Curios' mission to redefine digital content ownership, distribution, and monetization.
With this acquisition, Curios gains Rocki's technology infrastructure and a deep pool of musicians and creators. Several Rocki leaders, known for their pioneering work in music technology, will join Curios' advisory team.
"I've always believed in the transformative power of new technology for musicians, and I'm proud to see Rocki become a part of Curios," said Bjorn Niclas, the visionary behind Rocki. "This collaboration will unlock new opportunities for creativity and innovation in the digital content space, and I'm eager to see what we will achieve together."
"We are thrilled to welcome Rocki into the Curios family," said Grant Powell, CEO of Curios. "Bjorn and his team have demonstrated exceptional vision and creativity in music, and this acquisition will undoubtedly strengthen our position as a leader in the digital content industry."
As part of the acquisition, Curios plans to merge Rocki into the Curios creator ecosystem, which includes Curios Studio and the Creator Marketplace, and to continue developing and expanding the platform while fostering new collaborations and partnerships with artists, musicians, and creators worldwide.
